Panel & Reception with the CGRS at UC College of the Law, San Francisco
Please join us for a discussion on what is at stake for asylum law in the upcoming elections. CGRS experts will discuss the current legal landscape, policy prospects under a Harris or Trump administration, and our strategy to defend the rights of people seeking protection, including those displaced by the climate emergency. We will also recognize local attorneys for their efforts championing pro bono asylum cases.
Thursday, October 10, panel discussion at 4:30pm followed by
a reception at 5:30pm.
We are proud to present a dynamic panel featuring experts on asylum law, CGRS Director and Professor Karen Musalo, CGRS Legal Director and Visiting Assistant Professor Blaine Bookey, and CGRS Associate Director of Policy & Advocacy Felipe Navarro.
The panel discussion will begin at 4:30pm in the 333 Golden Gate Building. Afterward, we will gather for a reception on the Skydeck, offering breathtaking views of San Francisco and City Hall. Enjoy a wine bar, small bites, and the opportunity to connect with our CGRS colleagues and the local legal community.
When you register, please indicate whether you’ll be attending the panel discussion, reception, or both! Even if you can’t join us for the panel event, we’d love to see you at the reception.
This is a free event, but donations are always welcome to help us continue our important work, which includes:
- Providing vital resources, training, and mentorship to attorneys representing asylum seekers in court.
- Engaging in strategic policy advocacy and coalition building efforts to promote just and humane asylum policies.
- Litigating high impact cases to safeguard the human rights of those seeking safety in the United States.
- Sustaining CGRS' mission to defend refugee rights.
We hope you will be part of this inspiring evening!
- CGRS Team
